Preparing for IB Results
IB results will be released this weekend, so as the mixture of anticipation and anxiety mounts, we want to give IB students some guidance on how to prepare for this key moment.

Here are some steps you can take to prepare yourself for the day:

1. First of all, make sure you understand the process of how you are going to receive your results. Your school will have shared information about the IB results release process but now is the time to check you have all this information to hand, including your personal pin so you are clear what to do on the day. Check the official IB website or contact your school to find out the specific date and time when results will be available. Make a note of any additional steps you need to take, such as accessing an online portal or collecting results in person.

2. On the day check that you will have a stable internet connection so you can access your results quickly and easily. For UK university applicants, you will also need this to check on your UCAS Track account to see if you have been successful in your university choices.

3. Results day can be unpredictable, and it's important to manage your expectations. Remember that the results are just one aspect of your academic journey, and they do not define your worth or future success. Prepare yourself mentally for any outcome, whether positive or less than expected.

4. Once you receive your results, review them carefully and make note of any questions or concerns you may have. If you believe there has been an error, contact your school or the IB organization for clarification.

5. If all has gone well then you can relax and start to plan for taking up your university place. Please click here to read our blog on Preparing for University.

6. If the results have not gone your way, or you have changed your mind about what you want to study then it is important to make a plan.

There will still be plenty of university places out there and the best place to explore these is via Clearing - Please click here to read our clearing guide. Armed with your results and your personal statement you can now reach out to other universities and start discussing your options about studying in a different place or choosing an alternative subject. Having a plan will help you feel more in control and prepared for the next steps.

7. Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends, family, teachers or independent counsellors who can provide emotional support and practical advice on results day. Discussing your feelings and concerns with others can help alleviate stress and anxiety. Share your plans and aspirations with them, and remember that they are there to support you regardless of the outcome.

8. Celebrate your achievements: Remember to celebrate your hard work and accomplishments leading up to this moment. Regardless of the results, recognize the effort you put into your studies and the growth you've experienced throughout the IB program. Treat yourself to something special, whether it's a small reward or spending time doing something you enjoy.

Remember, the IB results are just one part of your educational journey. Regardless of the outcome, stay positive, learn from the experience, and keep striving for your goals.
